Leadership Lab

Leadership Lab gives your leaders space to explore, practice, and transform how they lead, bolstering their abilities and confidence to create change, lead into the future, collaborate more effectively, and lead their teams.

In this 12 month program, through self-discovery and applied learning, your leaders will develop their self-awareness, relationship skills, and thinking abilities to create a more compelling future for their teams, their organization, and all those you serve.

The Leadership Lab is:

  • A coaching circle, full of learning-is-fun-and-safe vibes, in a space where it’s interesting to learn, safe to not know, a discovery process to practice new tools on old challenges, and an environment where colleagues lift each other higher.

  • A dynamic lab and a model for your leaders to develop feedback rich human-centered learning cultures for themselves, their teams, and your broader organization.

  • Multi-dimensional, combining self-study, group coaching, 1:1 coaching, learning about specific leadership skills/practices, and applying all of that learning to a leadership focus.

  • Experimental, encouraging your leaders to process ideas and challenges, brainstorm, explore options, create their own learning experiments, and ideate.

  • Relational and relationship building, growing your leaders understanding of themselves and each other, which improves collaboration, enriches communication, and reduces stress.

  • An engagement playground that connects peers, builds a sense of community, and deepens relationships.

  • Space to explore big ideas, have higher level thinking, and then bring that thinking down to earth in real-time leadership and business application. We apply learning to your leaders’ role, relationships, and business objectives by framing the learning over the course of the Learning Lab to a specific leadership focus for each leader.

All of this boosts engagement, which also boosts performance and retention. Everybody wins.

While the Leadership Lab is customized to your needs, here’s an example of what we might cover. We can design a program that zooms in or out of these topics, or explores different topics:

Month 1: Leadership Vision

1:1 Goal Setting Coaching Sessions

How do you want to lead, and why is that important? This month, we explore the stories of how you got to where you are, what deeply matters, and the challenges and strengths you navigate to discover your leadership vision and a leadership focus. We refine and workshop your leadership vision over the course of the program.

Month 2: Values

What matters to you in all realms of your life, and how are you living your values in your career, leadership behaviors, and relationships, and messages. This is not a session where you pick from a list of words to identify your values. That’s been done! This session is a creative, fun, and unexpected way to understand your values while fostering deep connection between peers.

Month 3: Career Aspirations

How do you want to grow as a leader? What support do you need? How’s your network? What do you want to accomplish in your career? What will your legacy be?

Month 4: Self-Care

We explore how emotions show up at work. We’ll also create a self-care plan that will attend to your energy and renewal. How do you set boundaries and ask for help?

Month 5: Empowering Others

How do you empower your team - both 1:1 and as a group - to be their best? We will explore psychological safety, growth mindset, and coaching skills for leaders. How do you create a learning culture and learning mindset, where people feel free to ideate, make mistakes, and learn? We will apply these learnings to make best use of 1:1 and group meetings.

1:1 Mid-point Coaching Sessions

Month 6: Career Conversations

Developing your team member’s leadership capacity, skills, and helping them move towards their career aspirations is so important! We all have aspirations, and need the support and attention to step away from the day to day minutiae to think big about our careers and create opportunities to learn. This will stimulate and engage your team. We’ll explore how to have these conversations, how people learn, how to champion your team members, and how to create learning opportunities.

Month 7: Giving and Receiving Feedback

What’s the mindset and the skill to give and receive feedback in service to organizational goals? We will learn and practice a simple (but not easy) feedback model, and practices for giving and receiving feedback positive and course correcting.

Month 8: Stellar Meetings

Who likes a boring meeting? With zoom fatigue, meeting overload, and challenges in connecting in this hybrid world, being intentional about your meetings is even more important than ever. We’ll talk about how to lead stellar meetings, making great use of virtual or IRL time together to bond, learn, bring out the best of your people, and solve problems together.

Month 9: Collaboration

How can different people work together to create new ideas and products? We will explore how to leverage difference to generate impactful ideas. We will also explore decision making.

Month 10: Understanding Conflict

What is conflict ? Why do we have differences, and how do we communicate in healthy ways to transform conflict into a practice in connection, collaboration, emotional repair, and creative thinking.

Month 11: Strategic Thinking

How can leaders lead themselves and others to think strategically. We’ll explore inquiry based thinking, divergent and convergent thinking, creativity, imagination, play, and vision.

Month 12: Leading Transformation

How can you envision a better future for the business and your team, and lead people to that future? We’ll explore the emotions of change, motivation, values, perspective shifting, building buy-in, navigating stakeholders, and influencing.

Bonus Session: Program Conclusion

What lessons did your leaders learn? What was challenging? What were the breakthroughs? What questions persist? What next? We celebrate, reflect, and look to the future.
